Different materials of clothing when using metal zipper precautions

The chemical property of metals is chemical reaction when encountered acids, bases, oxidants or reducing agents and easy to produce discoloration. Therefore, when the chemical residues on the material react with the teeth, the puller and other parts of the metal zipper, the zipper may change color. This chemical reaction is more likely to occur in high temperature and humid conditions.
If the metal zipper is plated with black nickel and bright black nickel, it can not be used in real leather, wool fabrics and clothes, shoes and bags need washing process, otherwise it will produce chemical reaction with the acid in the surface to turn brown red, and even produce lamination

If the metal zipper is to be used in real leather, wool fabrics and clothes, shoes and bags that need to be washed, it should be indicated when placing the order to use electroplating process or assembly teeth zipper, in order to prevent the above problems.

2.1 Wool knitwear with metal zipper

Wool knitwear is usually bleached with strong oxidative bleaching or reducing bleach. In the bleaching process, gases such as CL2 or S2 are produced, which react with metal zipper components during steam ironing at high temperatures.

Method:
a) Be sure to wash the fabric very well after bleaching.
b) After steam ironing products must be fully cooled before packaging.
c) Use moisture-proof paper or dehumidifier if necessary.


2.2  Leather product with metal zipper

Leather is mainly made up of animal proteins, and it is very difficult to remove the chemicals that are produced during leather processing, so the chemicals tend to remain on the leather. These residual chemicals react when they come into contact with the metal zipper, slowly changing its color.

Method:
a) Wash leather goods thoroughly.
b) Store leather goods with metal zipper in a well-ventilated environment.
c) Do not apply strong and high concentration of bleaching agents on the zipper products.
